Instead of treating AI-enhanced rendering as a separate job that has to move out to another block of silicon, Qualcomm is folding neural work deeper into the Adreno GPU pipeline. The idea sounds familiar to anyone watching PC graphics: render more efficiently, then use AI to help improve the final image and smooth the experience. Qualcomm says Adreno Neural Fusion is backed by new Adreno Matrix Cores, described as AI-dedicated GPU cores built to run advanced AI models directly inside the graphics pipeline. These are paired with 18MB of Adreno High Performance Memory, or HPM, which is meant to keep tile-based rendering data, frame buffers and compute work local to the graphics subsystem. Keeping more intermediate data on-chip can reduce trips to system memory, which is one of the ways Qualcomm is aiming for lower latency and better efficiency.
